Tutorial video on how to use Storybird

How and why Storybird is useful in English language teaching?

  • Storybird is used to create digital, online story book in the internet. We can collaborate with each other in making the story too. You just have to invite your partner to collaborate in creating the story through email and then you can work together to create a story (note that your partner must create Storybird account first). Students will work with illustrations and this may motivate them to learn through the use of attractive, beautiful and colourful pictures provided by Storybird.
  •  There is a wide selection of arts that you can choose, select one and you can use it to create your story by adding some narrations to the illustration chosen before. After completing your story, you can save and publish yours! Invite your friend to read your story, share your stories together and give comments on each others. This eventually promotes peer feedbacks among students which is effective for learning process. Later, teacher can give feedbacks on students' stories.
  • By asking students to create their own stories using Storybird, this actually apply learner autonomous learning to students. Students have to decide what story they are going to write, the characters, the storyline, the title etc in which at the same time they will explore and discover the new language by themselves. This is really effective for learning process as learners may learn better from their experiences and mistakes.
  • In addition, this will create the sense of ownership as students have the power and authority to create their own story. This can enhance their thinking and creativity  skills too in creating their own story.
  • Another way to use Storybird in the classroom is by asking students to complete the story. Teacher may create the introduction of the story and later students will continue and complete the story. This may motivate students to do their best in completing the story as they will be proud if their completed stories are better and more interesting than their friends. This eventually creates healthy competition among students in the learning process too.

Create your own story using Storybird today!

Bye!
