Edmodo

Hi all,

have you ever heard of Edmodo before? If no, let me explain it to you! I would say that Edmodo looks like facebook but for this one is for learning purpose.

In Edmodo we can create our own profile and choose our own profile picture. Both teachers and students can use Edmodo as the communication tools in the classroom. I think Edmodo is very useful and should be used in teaching and learning process. Edmodo not only specific to be used in English classroom, it can  be used for other subjects learning too.

How and why Edmodo should be used in the classroom?

  • Teacher can use Edmodo to share the learning contents such as power point presentations and videos with students. Students can access the contents anytime if they want to refer to the contents to do their works.
  • Teacher can ask questions or homeworks to students through Edmodo. Later, they will answer the questions through this. Students can ask questions to teachers too if they do not understand of the questions given.
  • Plus, teacher can set up the assignment for students through Edmodo and students can submit their assignments through Edmodo too.
  • In addition, perhaps teacher can ask questions to students in order to initiate a discussion among themselves. In this way, introvert students can involve themselves in class discussion as some students may prefer to write their opinions rather than speak out their opinions to the class. This eventually may add interest and motivate them to learn in the classroom.
  • At the same time, class discussion through Edmodo may promote peer feedbacks too. Students can give comments on each others points and share their opinions together. Teachers can involve in the discussion too and give feedbacks to students' opinions.
